The
Chaplains with the Shelby County Sheriff Office in Alabama are among the most experienced
and trained Chaplains in the country. In 2007, this elite organization began
holding a Chaplains Academy and it is already considered among the best
available. With this Academy, Chaplains can complete all 12 units of basic
instruction required by the International Conference of Police Chaplains
(ICPC). Experienced Chaplains already with full membership status with the ICPC
can take an advanced class in one of two areas. Track 1 deals with the use of
Scripture in Chaplain Counseling (CEU credit available). Track 2 involves
selected courses from the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation
(ICISF) core curriculum (leading to ICISF certification).
CANA Chaplains in “good standing” will receive a rebate of $25 upon successful completion of any tracks if attended for all three days (please provide Bp Jones’ office with copies of your receipt and certificates).
