The Right Reverend Derek Jones
|
Bishop Derek Jones oversees the Deanery for the Chaplaincy for CANA and, along with the REC, provides cooperative endorsement for other Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) chaplains. In this role, Bishop Jones will endorse and manage ordained vocational clergy serving as chaplains in the military, VA, hospitals, industry, etc.; as well as volunteer chaplains serving in areas requiring formal endorsement. Bishop Jones has a primary responsibility to oversee the training, education, and ordination process for Chaplain Candidates (i.e. Seminarians/Post-graduates). He also serves on CANA's Vocations Committee. Consecrated to the Episcopate in January 2007, Derek was instrumental in the formation of the Deanery for CANA and has served as the Chaplain endorsing signatory since its inception. He and his wife, Connie, reside in Montevallo, Alabama. They have two adult daughters, Lauren and Amanda (Erric), and granddaughter Sarah. As CANA began to grow and ministries expand, inquiries in the area of vocational chaplaincy were nearly immediate. The requirement to provide reception and home to many ordained Chaplains seeking to remain orthodox in their faith is a priority for CANA. If you are currently serving as a Chaplain seeking to remain true to the historic orthodox faith handed down, or you are in seminary and believe you are called to the Chaplaincy, you are encouraged to contact Bp Jones. |
